How to use these checks

1

Gather your information

You will need your landlord's full name (or letting agent name) and the full address of your property. Check your tenancy agreement if you are unsure.

2

Run each check above

Click 'Check now' on each portal. The deposit check is the most important — run all three schemes as landlords can choose any one.

3

If a check fails

Contact your landlord in writing first (email is best — it creates a paper trail). Give them 14 days to respond before escalating.

4

Escalate if needed

Report to your local council's housing team, the PRS Ombudsman, or seek free advice from Shelter or Citizens Advice.

Important note

This tool links to official UK government and scheme portals — we do not hold or verify any landlord data ourselves. Results from third-party portals may not be real-time. If you believe there is a breach, always seek independent advice from Shelter or Citizens Advice before taking action.
